From the beginning of my photography journey, I have been in love with photographing Newborn babies. Although getting to hold and photograph these sweet babies was always the highlight of my day, I always anticipated hearing the birthing story. Every mom that came through my door I would find myself asking, "So, tell me everything! How did the delivery go?!" I have always been completely fascinated by the birth of a baby.

I remember very vividly having a conversation with a Wedding Photographer about how she knew she was in love with Weddings. She explained how she feel in love with them, and how she just knew deep down that Weddings were her "thing".Although I was completely in love with capturing Newborn goodness, there was still something missing. I desperately longed to find "my thing". Don't get me wrong, I love many aspects of photography, but I can't explain how, I just knew there was something else out there.

As a photographer, you spend a lot of your time researching ideas for shoots, and following the work of those you admire. I will never forget the night I was on Pinterest looking at Newborn Photography. One of the photographers had pinned photos from a Birthing Session. I just saw the post out of the corner of my eye and thought, "what was that??" I clicked on the pin, and within minutes, I was in tears. The images were beautiful, and unlike anything I had ever seen before. I knew from that moment, that my dream was to become a birthing photographer. I prayed that night that if it was in God's will, for him to give me an opportunity to do this. Two days later exactly, I got a text from Ashley that said "would you want to do my Newborn photos at the hospital instead and be here for my birth?" I couldn't help but laugh out loud at God's timing! God is good!

Now those sweet babies rarely arrive on time, and Miss Emersyn was no exception! Although Ashley's C-Section was scheduled for December 19th, Ashley's blood pressure was skyrocketing, so Emersyn was taken by Emergency C-Section on December 5th, 2012.

Mom's First sight was a precious moment, that since we have seen all over Pintrest! (exciting!!) but go ahead and pin again from here if you'd like! :)
The Family's reaction to seeing this sweet girl for the very first time was pretty priceless, too...

This sweet baby was 3 weeks early, and weighted 6lbs and 6 oz. She was 19 inches long, and arrived at 4:44pm!
The hospital was amazing to me. I told the anesthesiologist this was my first birth to document, and he asked if I wanted my photo taken! Even though it was just taken with my phone, it is super special to me. This day ignited a new spark  in my career that I will forever be grateful for! Ashley and Chris-- I will forever be eternally grateful to you two, for allowing me to be part of such an amazing time in your lives. I love your family tons!
More birthing stories coming tomorrow. Be sure to watch for them!

Spending a day with my crazy family should have turned you away from photography in a whole. Haha!! We have fallen in love with you and expect you to be there taking the pictures of Emersyn's wedding. Thank you for all you do!! Love, The Collins Crew
